There is a problem in your patch.

You are including many include files without checking for the
existence of them, in example:
sys/socket.h
netinet/in.h
netdb.h

Many of them are not available or are named differently on Unix and
Windows, so this patch will broke immediately the build process on
too much platforms.

So you should change your patch to use conditional including like
other source code.
