Hi gang,
I'm Alex Kinch, based in a sleepy town just outside London, England. In a
previous life I was a Cisco and IP networking expert, but nowadays I'm
station manager for a dance music radio station.
Anyhow.. I'm still involved in some technical stuff, especially web projects
for the station. At present, one of my projects is researching, building and
implementing a new web and streaming platform, using edge delivery
techniques. Having read that Squid 3 will support ESI, I'm now busy playing
with that.
The plan is to use Squid 3 as an edge web server, delivering content from a
couple of ASP/IIS centrally-based servers using http acceleration and ESI.
So far I've got Squid 3 sort-of running ok, but as for the IIS box and the
Akamai ESI extensions, it's looking a bit flakey!
I've not really got any experience of code hacking, think that's best left
to the experts on here (Hi Adrian - remember Amsterdam?!). However, I can
give plenty of feedback on the ESI functionality from a real-world
environment, and hopefully help squash any bugs.
So there we go. That's me :-)
Alex
